What is Our Mission?

To Raise Awareness, End the Stigma, and Provide Hope & Resources

Alumni In Recovery (AinR) a non-profit organization composed of dedicated young adults who are now living in recovery and abstinent from all drugs and alcohol.

We are a service-based volunteer program, which started in Bergen County, NJ (although is growing into other areas), offering a service to schools and communities.

Our Mission is to provide a safe and reliable program while providing awareness, hope, and resources for our local communities. We aim to end the stigma surrounding the disease of addiction by sharing our stories with middle and high school students, parents and communities. As AinR volunteers, we speak openly about our struggles with addiction and how we overcame them.

The Participants Work a Program of Recovery which means that they are abstinent from all mind altering drugs including alcohol.  They are screened as appropriate and reliable sources. They are responsible local young adults living in the community, rebuilding their lives and actively working a program of recovery.

The Alumni In Recovery Parent Program - geared toward adult audiences to help the community at town and school based events, navigate today's landscape riddled with the deadly disease of addiction. This typically consists of two AinR members, and a bereaved parent who speaks of the loss of their child due to drug addiction. This brings together two important resources in a common cause to facilitate change in the way people view substance abuse and addiction.

Our Participants Speak From Their Hearts. As an act of volunteer service, they do not expect any payback other than the gratitude that comes from helping others. It is the hope of all that are associated with Alumni In Recovery that they can help others better understand this deadly disease and hopefully help save lives.

Founder Nancy Labov RN  has 20+ years working in the field of addiction nursing and counseling. As part of her ongoing dedication to addiction treatment, she had the opportunity to accompany young women in treatment at Spring House for Women in Paramus, New Jersey, to speaking commitments at high schools within Bergen County. As she witnessed the connection between the students and the heart-felt sharing of these young women’s stories of addiction and their subsequent recovery, the idea for Alumni In Recovery was born. On December 4, 2017, Alumni In Recovery became a Nonprofit Organization, and continues to gain momentum through the spirit of honest and good service.

We breathe new life into recovery, community and make a difference in the lives of others!
