An epic day of music, food, speakers, fun, the celebration of recovery and more!
Fentanyl Awareness Day collaboration with Body Positive Works!
We had an evening of wellness, healing, and community with fun free activities such as sound healing, led by Joy Mino, and candlelight yoga, led by Amanda Lohman-Yeu. Renowned medium Anthony Mrocka made an appearance doing readings. Refreshments and light snacks were served!
We had a successful Black Ballon Day at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, remembering those who have passed away during the substance misuse epidemic. We even followed the event up with a free Speaker Jam. Addiction has taken many loved ones from the world, but that does not mean that recovery is impossible. Those who came got to enjoy some food and beverages while hearing stories of hope at this addition to our collaboration with The Black Poster Project honoring those we have lost to overdose.
Substance Misuse Prevention Month is no exception! We were getting right back into the swing of things this October, giving multiple presentations in schools as well as engaging in some of our other programs like Pizza Positivity!

Thank you Kearny HS inviting us to speak alongside The Black Poster Project during the day to students and at night to the community! Our speakers shared about their stories of recovery, strength, and hope.
Through speaking honestly and openly about our stories of addiction where we were at their age, we hope to open the door to more conversation surrounding the topic and our mental health struggles that led us there.
Parent members who lost their children to overdose related deaths shared their stories during the evening event - they shared warning signs and things they wish they would have known when their child was struggling.
Thank you Chris D, Rob, Chris M, and parent members Bill and Betty! ❤🌎
